Swinging Saturdays #55: MIKA Spotlight

Swinging saturdays is a musical meme hosted by Ice Cold Passion, to share our passion for music. The goal is to make a top 5 (or Top 10) for whatever genre or artist you like or get creative and share a theme based music top 5. For example a bookish soundtrack, funny songs, song to listen to on a rainy day top 5.

Last week I went to a concert of MIKA, an it was freaking sweet! I had actually planned to write this post last Saturday, but ended up at my couch with the flue. Not something I had planned. So therefore I would like to share this with you know. Please enjoy the master of infectious tunes.

1. No Place In Heaven

From the album bearing the same name. This was also the opening tune from the concert, I loved it instantly.

2. Toy Boy

Album: The Boy That Knew Too Much
I still think this is a amazing song, I love the lyrics and I think many gay people can relate to the lyrics. I think it is very inspiring, and has good moral. It is too bad I could not find a live version of good quality of this song. Oh well, just close your eyes and live this story. I promise you it is good.

3. Love Today

Album: Live In Cartoon Motion
The first 2 songs have a pretty heavy burden therefore a happy song. To me MIKA is just that: happiness.

4. Ell Me Dit

Album: The Origin Of Love
Oh, this song get stuck in my head every time I hear it, although I don't understand one word French. By the way MIKA also made a English version of this song called Emily. I still like the French version better though. I believe MIKA is quite popular in French, all live videos I find are from French origin.

5. Touches You

Album: The Boy That Knew Too Much
Ook zn nummer waar je vrolijk van wordt, lekker even een feestje bouwen in je woonkamer of gewoon lekker hard meezingen.

6. Boum Boum Boum

Album: No Place In Heaven??? (misschien op het deluxe album)
This is one of the French songs MIKA did at the concert. The more often I hear it, the better it becomes.

7. Underwater

Album: The Origin Of Love
This song hits you straight in the face the first time you hear it. It is so beautiful. I silently enjoyed this song at the concert. In my case that means I did not sing along.

8. Last Party

Album: No Place In Heaven

9. Popular

This video is just funny, I like it it has my kind of weirdness. Although I don't think it is very realistic to think Adrianna Grande being unpopular in high school. I just can't imagine a pretty face like that not being popular. Oh well, we will just have the she is not there then. :)

10. Happy Ending

Album: Live In Cartoon Motion
Last but not least is one of my favorite MIKA songs ever. And I was so happy ecstatic they decided to play this. And I don't think I was the only one, because everybody was singing along at the top of their longs.

What is your favorite MIKA song?
