A Lycan that can’t shift is no use to anyone.

I’ve made it my mission to be useful to my pack. As pack enforcer, I’m fast and strong, but when the time comes to bond with my mate, it isn’t enough.

Rejection means lone wolf status and isolation from the pack. But when a package arrives with an unexpected inheritance, the pack that wants to shun me, suddenly has a new use for me.

Turns out, I’m the proud owner of a house in mysterious territory, rumoured to be home to a pack of beautifully twisted shifters. Hawthorne Cove is Impregnable to Lycans, but not to a half human like me.

Now I have a second chance to be accepted by my pack.

All I have to do is infiltrate the Hawthorne pack, find the source of their power and steal it.

Easier said than done.

Because once I pass the mystical boundaries surrounding the town, I’ll be absolutely, and totally at the mercy of the wolves of Hawthorne Cove.

About Dark Duet

Family. What does that word mean?
Kindness. Generosity... Love? None of that applies to mine.
I think we should try vicious, corrupt... Deadly. I am not an innocent.
I do not believe in fate. Revenge should have its moment to shine. I’ve been a slave to circumstance... A child of the shadows. Now, I embrace the gloom and thrive inside it.
Revenge. Love. Vengeance. Salvation. The battle inside me rages on. At least it does until one day when... I find her. I do not understand. I cannot allow myself to believe that... There is light inside the darkness. ~Nikolai Belikov

** This novel contains mature content. It is intended for an audience at 18+ years of age.**

So here is the beautiful cover in the third installment, Dark Duet, of the Musical Interlude series:

About Prelude (The Musical Interlude #1)

After finishing design school six months ago, Erin Angelo left her tragic past behind in the States and started a new life in Milan, Italy. Burying the grief, silencing her demons, and living a life without any real attachments has worked well for her so far. But when Erin secures her first real job as a budding clothing designer, her controlled world is shaken to its core by the mysteriously sexy director of the local symphony.

Alek Dostov is a man who knows what he wants and how to get it. He’s successful, hot, the son of a millionaire, and women all over the world flock to see one of his performances. For Alek, Erin represents the ultimate challenge: sexy, smart, and unaffected by his charms…or so she thinks. Just like Erin, Alek avoids attachments that leave him emotionally vulnerable. But unlike Erin, his pursuit of all things pleasurable is ruthless.

Knowing how wary they both are concerning any kind of committed relationship, Alek finds a way to pursue Erin, satisfying the intense attraction between them without sacrificing the freedom they both enjoy. Sometimes the deepest passion brings out the darkest emotions. And Erin finds herself completely unprepared for the forbidden world of the young maestro and his truths and even his secrets, as she struggles to deal with her own.

Music, passion, betrayal and forbidden love spun together in one of the most romantic cities in the world.

About An Aria In Venice (The Musical Interlude #1.5)

New Adult Contemporary Romance
(Standalone)
Release Date: April 22nd, 2014

His goal…One night with the ballerina.
Her goal…To beat the player at his game.
The outcome...Something completely unexpected.

Adriana Dostov pegged Luca Martuccio from day one: gorgeous, talented, arrogant, a man who has had difficulty committing to one woman in the past. He is known in fashion circles as the player with a scandalous history. So when the girls in her ballet troupe suggest she gives up her virginity to him, she doesn't say no. But she’s not sure that a ‘yes’ is the right answer either. Yet, she can’t stop herself from making the offer... a one night stand in Venice.

Luca wanted feisty little Adriana the moment they first met - and he fully intends to have her, hence why he's agreed to accept her proposal. In the end, he'll get what he wants. No commitment. All sex.

But, as Luca discovers, there's more to the ballerina with the overbearing mother - and he can't help but care about the frightened girl behind those sad eyes.

Adriana discovers Luca isn't just walking sex on a stick - he has a wildly passionate side, a lost soul who has suffered just as much grief as her. And it could be, they're exactly what the other one needs.

The Crescendo (The Musical Interlude, #2)

He taught her how to walk outside the line. She taught him how to leave the past behind. In the end, fate brought them both together.

Six months ago, Erin Angelo was hired by Alek Dostov, the charismatic Maestro who hired her design firm, the same man who healed the wounds of her tragic past.

In the highly anticipated, reader requested sequel to THE PRELUDE, Alek and Erin are preparing to embrace their new life and love for music while nurturing Erin’s blossoming singing career.

But when a mysterious figure from Erin’s past walks back into her life, Alek and Erin’s belief that their love will conquer everything is put to the test. As Alek continues to struggle with the ghosts of his past and recent family troubles, Erin finds a way to reconnect with her fiancée. The couple set out on a tour of Italy, taking Alek’s music group to the next level.

But Alek’s mother, Katerina, has other plans in mind. She orders the tour manager to go along with them. Now, they will face new challenges while dealing with the pressures of their careers.

Why Guys Should Read Chick Lit

What most guys don’t know, is that women’s fiction has a lot on offer. I don’t think I’m being presumptuous about the reading habits of XYs. My husband (who has earned his title of “beditor”) wouldn’t be caught dead reading *girl* stuff, unless I convince him otherwise.

His biggest complaint is that “women sure do think a lot.” That’s right, we do. Live and learn, hombres. What can guys learn from chick lit? Lots of cool stuff. Like women think it’s sexier for guys to fill up our cars with gas, than to play bongos on our ass. (See what we did there, it’s sing-songy and rhymes so guys can easily remember it.)

It’s not like men are from Jupiter, that’s why they’re stupider . . . (though if the planet fits!) This is just an open invitation to those he-men of the universe to take a ride on the chick slide. (That sounds dirty but maybe it will help attract their attention.) There are so many smart, fun women writers, it would be great if guys would read it and weep. For extra relationship-bonus points, they can share their feelings in a bedtime book report! And they all lived happily ever after . . .

About Perfectly Broken

Even after years of trauma therapy, Peyton still believes she’s broken. She has little desire to date or show off her natural beauty, content simply to hang out with her best friends and run her pie shop in New Orleans.

But her world turns upside-down when a handsome architect and self-confessed player shows up in her shop and thinks she’s perfect, much more than the usual hook-up. While Peyton does her best to resist his charms, believing she could never be enough for him, she can’t deny the obvious heat between them.

With Reed determined to have her, Peyton must decide whether to continue to hide behind her apron and baggy clothes or take a chance and share her scars with Reed, a man with a playboy reputation and scars of his own — a dark past he can’t possibly share with Peyton, not after learning the horrors she’s endured. But if they can find a way to trust each other, and themselves, they just might be able to heal, to save each other, to live perfectly broken together.

EXCERPT

Dr. Lorraine closed the chart again.  “Listen up!” she barked, startling her young patient.  “I know the game you play.  Reed doesn’t, so he left not realizing this is what you do.  Someone gets close to you, or you open up a little bit, and then you get scared, hide, look for a reason to push them away.”  Peyton’s eyes began to tear, and Dr. Lorraine handed her another tissue.  “The scared girl laying on the dirty ground helpless after losing her innocence.”
“Sometimes it’s better to push people away, so you don’t hurt them,” Peyton said, “and they don’t hurt you.”
 “Bullshit!”
Peyton shook her head.  “I’m never going to be whole again.”
“That’s bullshit, too.  I won’t have talk like that, Miss Peyton.  I just won’t have it.”  Dr. Lorraine cocked her head to the side.  “It’s time for a change in direction -- a serious change of direction.  This is what we are going to do.  You made a lot of progress with Reed – lots of good oral and other stuff.  But now you’ve cut him off, and I see you backsliding.  I don’t like to see it.  I won’t allow it.”  She stroked her chin then cracked her knuckles in preparation for some great declaration.  “I’m prescribing a little retail therapy.”
 “What?” Peyton cried.
“Yes, that’s what I’m prescribing.  You get that friend of yours, Quinn, and hit the shops – Canal Place, Magazine Street, St. Charles Avenue, wherever,” Dr. Lorraine ordered, her whole body bouncing.  “I don’t want to see you in those sad, baggy ass clothes anymore.  Just looking at them, they mess with my head, and they screw up my whole day.  You ever think about how they make me feel?”
“No,” Peyton said with a laugh.
“Makes me sad.  I hate them.  So I want new shoes, clothes, athletic wear, undergarments!  Everything new.  Got it?”
 “How is this therapy?”
“Honey, you’re hiding again.  You’ve flipped your sex switch back to off, and I’m not about to let it hibernate in some frozen tundra again for years.  We’ve worked too damn hard.  You need to get in touch with your sexuality without a man helping you do it.  You have to do it.  And clothes are the perfect place to start.”
Peyton shrugged.  “I don’t feel like it.”
“You don’t feel like it?  Tough shit!  I didn’t feel like getting my pap smear last week, but I did.”
Peyton smiled.  “It just seems like a waste of time and money.”
“Well, if you don’t want to do it through clothes, I can prescribe something else.  Maybe a pole dancing class?”
 “I don’t think so.”
 “Or daily masturbation?”
Peyton rolled her eyes.  “Fine, I’ll get the clothes.”
“Good,” Dr. Lorraine said, writing in Peyton’s chart, as if filling out a prescription to take to the drugstore.  “Among other things, I want you to get some power panties.”
“Power panties?”  Has she been talking to Bret?
“Sexy underwear,” Dr. Lorraine said, still writing.  “They can make a woman feel very powerful.”  She put down her pen and looked at Peyton.  “When a man wants to be taken seriously, he usually wears a red tie.  Ever notice that in presidential debates?  Lots of red ties.  Red is the color of power.”  Dr. Lorraine waved her hand and snapped her fingers.  “So get yourself some red panties, girl!  Take back your power!  Do it for yourself!”  She handed Peyton her prescription.
“I didn’t realize my power was in my underwear.”

Review

This is one of those feel good books, like I have feel good movies, which I usually attend to if I am in THAT mood. This time I thought the hell, I am not going to watch the Holiday or A Cinderella story for a millionth time, I am going to read a chicklit!

And I can surely say I don't regret it one bit! This book was funny, great and very easy to relate to. I loved that it is set in Calgary, a city I have been to, and I know the surrounding farm areas as well. The main character is a veterinarian, a strong woman, with a broken heart. Not wanting an other cowboy to break her heart, she closes herself of from men. But this one just keeps coming, and he is so different from all the cowboys she has dated.

This makes it such an entertaining light read. Which I enjoyed immensely. The only thing that I do question, is that some elements seem to be what I imagine Texas to be, for example the accent. I haven't heard anything like that in and around Calgary. But since the author is Canadian and lives in Calgary, she probably knows a lot more about it then me.

Rating

Fun, light read, recommended to all how love a good chicklit/romance book!

Books: The Dumont Diaries ~ Alessandra Torre ~ promo

Title: The Dumont Diaries
Author: Alessandra Torre
Publication date: September 4th 2013
Genres: Erotica, Romance

About The Dumont Diaries

Lust is a dangerous thing.
It can make you believe things that are not real.
It can seduce your mind and lead it blindfolded to the cliff that will be its demise.

What would you do if you could leave your life? Wake up one day and be someone else? I signed the contract. I left Candace Tapers and her slutty, strip club life behind, abandoned every part of that life with one hesitant swipe of my pen.

The contract was clear:

1. Sex
2. Public Appearances
3. No romance

“I need a wife. I am not signing up for romance, or affection, or a full time job.
I will not love you. I will have no use for you other than sex and photo ops.”

Sex with Nathan was easy. More than easy. Panty-melting, can-never-get-enough HOT. I had begun to think that I could live this new life, showered in luxuries, orgasms, and diamonds. Then, I started tripping over secrets.

Disclaimer:
The Dumont Diaries contains a strong alpha male, super hot explicit sex, and twists and turns that might cause unnatural heart palpitations. This book does not contain BDSM elements.

*The Dumont Diaries was originally released, and is still available as a four-part miniseries. This book combines the four pieces of the miniseries into one, full-length novel.

Books: The Princess Problem ~ Diane Darcy

Title: The Princess Problem ~ A Fairy Tale Romance
Author:  Diane Darcy
Published: 16th, May, 2013
Publisher: Self published
Kind of story: Standalone, Novella
Number of pages: 121 p.
Age category: Adult
Language: English only

About The Princess Problem

In real life, she’s given up on the fairytale ending...

After having her heart broken twice, Alicia Dayne has sworn off men, decided to concentrate on her career, and is delighted to win a lucrative contract to make a commercial for Highborn Mattresses.

She could make the most awesome fairytale commercial ever, except for Jonas Highborn, who isn’t exactly thrilled with her Princess and the Pea ideas, and really doesn’t want a prince in tights representing his company.

Though he’s trying to keep his grieving mother happy by letting her have charge of the commercial shoot, and though Alicia’s trying to keep in mind that this annoying guy is her boss for the moment, they can’t seem to keep from clashing.

My review

First of all, I have been having trouble getting those reviews written, I don't know why, since I have actually been taking notes for awhile. Which by the way is new for me, I never use to take notes in the past, but then again I didn't read as much as I do know. Another one of my problems is that I keep forgetting the characters names, not so convenient  if you are trying to write a review! Anyways let's try this again.

I read this book on a relaxed saturday afternoon. I didn't know what I wanted to read, just found Vrolijk Hart, which I finished in about an hour, and I was craving for more shorter reads and came across this fun little novella.  And this was just the kind of story I needed at that moment. A fairy tale, well a modern fairy tale. Thinking about it, it kind of reminds me of A Cinderella story, you know the one with Hillary Duff and Chad Michael Murray, well minus the high school drama.

This is definitely not a high school story, although there are no sex scenes in this book. Yes I am just calling it as it is, it is true though, this is a clean romance story. The main character Alicia just landed her first big project, designing a promotion champagne for Highborn Mattresses. Which is cool, I like the fact that she's a hard working starter, which I can relate to easily because I am just started my first job. Even though Mrs. Highborn was just looking for a date for her son, the business was still a major player in this story. It was not just a background detail, which made the story realistic.

And of course there was the romance, the emotions growing on both sides. Alicia not being aware that he was flirting with her, which was hilarious. Also the bantering between Alicia and Jonas gave for a lot of hilarious moment throughout the book.

My rating

All in all I must say that I have enjoyed this story very much even though it might have been a little bit cliche, at the moment it made my day! Therefore I rate this novella 4 snowflakes!

Books: Vrolijk Hart ~ Evi Parker

Title: Vrolijk Hart
Author: Evi Parker
Series: Wolfhartserie
Published: 8th, December, 2013
Publisher: Self-published
Kind of story: Short Story
Number of pages: 52 p.
Age category: Adult
Language: Dutch only

About Vrolijk Hart

Joy is a joyous, optimistic woman with a hart of gold. Luuk is moody, cranky and on the edge of losing his self-control. He is dangerous to his environment and the last thing he wants to do is harm Joy.
But will you stay away from Luuk because of his cranky character?
Or when she finds out that he is not human?

My review

Well look at that! A Dutch short story, one that will give you joy. Unlike Bring Her Wolf this short story actually has content. We learn about Joy and her habbits. We meet her peculiar client, Luuk, who happens to be a werewolf.

The story builds up to a great ending too. Hopefully we will get to see a sequel to this short story, I would love to lear more about the characters! It would be even better if Evi could turn this into a full-length book! It definitely got the potential to be much more than just a short story. And I would be the first person to by the book!

It is really great to read a Dutch paranormal romance. Most of the books on the market are translation from English writers, which I don't read in Dutch. The was a nice change from my overstuffed Engelish Kindle shelf. 4 snowflakes for this short story!

About Bring Her Wolf

Chloe is a wolf with a problem: She can't change and if her wolf doesn't come soon, pack law demands she leave the only home she's ever known.

Then temptation comes calling...hot hunky werewolf, Jackson promises Chloe he'll bring her wolf. He's been pining for her from afar and won't miss a chance to claim Chloe for his own. The bad boy alpha will have Chloe howling before she knows it.

My Review

I have read several short stories last year which were al pretty awesome, but not this one, so if you are expecting something cheery then stop reading right here because now I am going to start my rant!

This short story was just to short for me, strange right, but it lacked any useful content and was a complete waste of my time. Maybe it was a good thing it was so short.

What bothered me the most was the whole shifting thingy, hey I know how to make you turn, I just have to fuck you! Really? How lame is that? nope definitely not my thing. I was already annoyed at that point. Then Cloe gets almost "raped", well not really but she didn't have much choice in the matter either so yeah it could have been a rape..

My rating

Then she turns kills a rabbit, the end. There is no depth, no story, no interesting characters, overall it just sucked. So 2 snowflakes for this lack of content short story.

About Dark Shadows

In the year 1752, Joshua and Naomi Collins, with young son Barnabas, set sail from Liverpool, England to start a new life in America. But even an ocean was not enough to escape the mysterious curse that has plagued their family.

Two decades pass and Barnabas (Johnny Depp) has the world at his feet-or at least the town of Collinsport, Maine. The master of Collinwood Manor, Barnabas is rich, powerful and an inveterate playboy...until he makes the grave mistake of breaking the heart of Angelique Bouchard (Eva Green). He returns to Collinwood Manor to find that his once-grand estate has fallen into ruin. The dysfunctional remnants of the Collins family have fared little better, each harboring their own dark secrets. This is a great movie, in it's own way, it might not be an award winning movie but oh how I love this movie! It's full of Tim Burton weirdness, the kind of weirdness I enjoy. I have been a fan of Tim Burton's work ever since I watched Nightmare Before Christmas, which is probably one of my favorite movies ever! Really if you haven't watched it go get it! But enough about The Nightmare Before Christmas this is the review for Dark Shadows.

Right... Let's get back to that! First thing that I love about this movie is the great music that bring's you to the seventies. Really great choice of music, then there is of course Depp. Johnny is another favorite of mine and in combination with Johnny Depp, its when Depp is at it's best.

This movie is funny, full of the paranormal, vampires, witches, and werewolves are all present, in one way or another. This story is really unique, it's a story about loss, love and revenge. Ok I can only say that this movie is amazing, the scene, the story, the time, the actors. I really love how it all worked out and I don't know, just go watch it! If you liked any of the Tim Burton movies, you will surely love this one!

About Trust Me

Jenifer Taylor is content with her life, dull and boring as it is. Being absent from the dating scene means she doesn’t have to deal with the major trust issues she has with men that stem from a controlling and aggressive ex-boyfriend and an absentee father. She’s happy being alone, sharing her life with her friends and family.
When Jeni starts a typical day in the big city of Mornington Vale, California, it turns from bad to worse when she’s involved in a chain collision on her way to work.
Her world changes forever that day because she meets Aiden O’Connell, the billionaire son of Alistair O’Connell, who owns Mornington Vale’s largest financial corporation. Aiden is an up-and-coming young businessman who's ready to take on the vice presidency of his father’s company. He is the good son, and it’s imperative to Alistair that Aiden succeed and follow in his footsteps. Life for Aiden involves working hard and not much else.
After the accident, however, Aiden’s world changes as well. He finds Jeni irresistible and instantly pursues her. With some coaxing, she eventually agrees to a date, and the attraction is mutual.
Jeni finds love quickly with Aiden, but trusting him is another issue. When to trust is tested in many different ways but comes to a head when Aiden is investigated for a serious crime. As her trust issues spark, she is forced to go through a journey of self-discovery.
She must decide once and for all whether she trusts the man she loves when she’s asked the ultimate question: “Do you trust me?”
This is book one in a series of three. Book two "Love Me?" is coming November 18th 2013.
