Movies: 5 Stephen King movies to watch on Halloween

HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYBODY!!!

So we are closing off this Halloween month with a bang, today I am sharing with you some of my favorite Stephen King movies. And there will be something for everybody because not all of these are very scary, I think of Stephen King more of the king of dread, he just knows how to very subtly set a very atmospheric setting and slowly fill it with a good all portion of dread. Most of the time I just am a bit creeped out, more than really scared. I have yet to read a Stephen King book, I know I should have already, I just don't know where to start. That will be a discussion for another day.

Let's get into the movies.

Movies: Dark Shadows

Title: Dark Shadows
Year: 2012
Director: Tim Burton
Runtime: 113 min
Release date: 10 May 2012

About Dark Shadows

In the year 1752, Joshua and Naomi Collins, with young son Barnabas, set sail from Liverpool, England to start a new life in America. But even an ocean was not enough to escape the mysterious curse that has plagued their family.

Two decades pass and Barnabas (Johnny Depp) has the world at his feet-or at least the town of Collinsport, Maine. The master of Collinwood Manor, Barnabas is rich, powerful and an inveterate playboy...until he makes the grave mistake of breaking the heart of Angelique Bouchard (Eva Green). A witch, in every sense of the word, Angelique dooms him to a fate worse than death: turning him into a vampire, and then burying him alive.

Two centuries later, Barnabas is inadvertently freed from his tomb and emerges into the very changed world of 1972. He returns to Collinwood Manor to find that his once-grand estate has fallen into ruin. The dysfunctional remnants of the Collins family have fared little better, each harboring their own dark secrets. Matriarch Elizabeth Collins Stoddard (Michelle Pfeiffer) has called upon live-in psychiatrist, Dr. Julia Hoffman (Helena Bonham Carter), to help with her family troubles.

My review

This is a great movie, in it's own way, it might not be an award winning movie but oh how I love this movie! It's full of Tim Burton weirdness, the kind of weirdness I enjoy. I have been a fan of Tim Burton's work ever since I watched Nightmare Before Christmas, which is probably one of my favorite movies ever! Really if you haven't watched it go get it! But enough about The Nightmare Before Christmas this is the review for Dark Shadows.

Right... Let's get back to that! First thing that I love about this movie is the great music that bring's you to the seventies. Really great choice of music, then there is of course Depp. Johnny is another favorite of mine and in combination with Johnny Depp, its when Depp is at it's best.

This movie is funny, full of the paranormal, vampires, witches, and werewolves are all present, in one way or another. This story is really unique, it's a story about loss, love and revenge. Ok I can only say that this movie is amazing, the scene, the story, the time, the actors. I really love how it all worked out and I don't know, just go watch it! If you liked any of the Tim Burton movies, you will surely love this one!

Movies: Warm Bodies

Movie title: Warm Bodies
Release date: 2013
Director: Jonathan Levine
Run time: 98 min
Book title: Warm bodies
Author: Isaac Marion

About Warm Bodies

'R' is a zombie. He has no name, no memories and no pulse, but he has dreams. He is a little different from his fellow Dead.

Amongst the ruins of an abandoned city, R meets a girl. Her name is Julie and she is the opposite of everything he knows - warm and bright and very much alive, she is a blast of colour in a dreary grey landscape. For reasons he can't understand, R chooses to save Julie instead of eating her, and a tense yet strangely tender relationship begins.

This has never happened before. It breaks the rules and defies logic, but R is no longer content with life in the grave. He wants to breathe again, he wants to live, and Julie wants to help him. But their grim, rotting world won't be changed without a fight.

My review

Wow, what a great movie! Really, really great! Actually I totally fell in love with it! It was so cute, a zombie falling in love with a human. And gosh isn't he cute? Can I say that? Well I did didn't I?

I think they captured this really well, now I really want to read the book! Yeah bad thing right? I mostly read the books before the movie, well if I know there was a book. Did you ever watch a movie and afterwards heard there was a book? Yeah that really makes me want to run to the book store and go get it!

Anyways, I was amazed that I liked the whole Zombie approach, as you might know I am not a big fan of zombies. My first zombie experience was when reading Mortality read my review here:  Click here. I got to say after zombie experience 2 I really think I am going to get a three and four as well. Well of course I am going to read the second book in the Mortality series, and I am getting Warm Bodies now too!
