Bullying should be illegal!

In the last few months bullying has been on the Dutch news various times, two teenagers took their lives because they were bullied. Isn't it horrible?, that those two kids didn't see another way out, then to take their own lives? That is why I wanted to write my blog about it to create some awareness. Or at least I can hope it will. :)

Sometimes when I am watching the news,  I'm thinking to myself: what  the hell is wrong with the inhabitants of this world teenagers taking their live, a guy shooting at an whole island of teenagers, another shooting at a school and at a premiere. And the shitload of pedophiles that have been molesting little children, who will be damaged for life. And don't start me on all the pointless violence cases.

Sometimes, you just don't want to watch the news any more. The crimes are all horrible, but when it comes to bullying, it get me personally. I know how it feels to be left out, to be called names, the horrible things they said about your parents, how they talk about you behind your back, how they ruined my bicycle, the hurtfull thing they said.

The question, I think, all people that have been bullied have is: Why? Why me? and What have I ever done to you, to make you hate me so much? The answer to those questions, I owe you, because I haven't been able to get the answers myself. It has haunted me, made me insecure and caused a big dent in me trusting people.

Allthough my high school years weren't all that great, it has given me some great skills. I am stronger, more passionate and driven to chase my dreams. To prove everybody wrong, about who I am and what I can and cannot achieve. For all the people who are being bullied, you can get out, just be strong, raise your head up high.

And because I am a book-aholic here are some books about bullying, it may change your mind on the subject, JUST DON'T BULLY IT IS HURTFULL AND UNFAIR!

The Twilight movie-saga has finally reached it's end. All though the Twilight trend has not yet been smashed into the ground (which I would love to do). Hollywood and the rest of the only-movie-watching-non-reading society is seriously trying to annoy the crap out of me, by comparing EVERY paranormal romance/dystopian/fantasy book-turning-into-movie with Twilight.

It is like comparing apples with peaches and lemons, a Kioti tractor with a Case 4WD, to stick with the topic it's like comparing vampires with werewolves, pixies, gnomes, trolls, elfs or faeries, which are all very different in nature. As are the writers that have written the stories.

It doesn't do the writers justice that they are all having to enduring endless comparisons with Twilight. I read somewhere that someone was comparing Interview with the Vampire with Twilight, saying Anne Rice had it all screwed up with her vampires, they are able to walk in the sunlight, they just sparkle. The ignorance!

Anne Rice's books are on a completely different level as Twilight. They are much more complex and are just literary masterpieces one by one (yes literature! Of the greatest) You can add her to the list of Shakespeare, Jane Austen or Charles Dickens, as in the quality of the writing.

Yes, I am going to rant on for a bit, so if you are allready annoyed with me for saying those things, you might as well stop reading here, because now I am going to get really nasty.

Then they start comparing with The Vampire Diaries, saying things like: now that Stephenie Meyer has opened doors they come with this rip off serie. I like to correct a couple of things here for the unknowing ignorant people that say this: I hate to break it to you but the first vampire diaries book (The Awakening) was published back in 1991, which was more than ten years before the existence of Twilight which was published first in 2005.

To go even further back in time, one of the first vampire books was, Bram Stoker's Dracula, which was publish a century before that, in 1897. Earlier stories of vampire exist as well, a published story by John Williamm Polidori in 1819 is one of them.

Yes people vampires have a long history, which probably dates back even further than the 18th century (since they are based on old legends). Back to the 21th century, there are many other books with vampires that came before Twilight: The Nightworld series by L.J. Smith (first book was published in 1996), The Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice which includes Interview with the Vampire (first published in 1976), Darren Shan series (published in 2000) and the Sookie Stackhouse serie (published in 2001).

This is but an small portion of what was allready out there. Authors have always been fasinated by vampires, it' is a popular subject to write about in the fantasy world. The same goes for witches which have a similarly long history. (No comparison here just facts).

Then the apples with pears comparison, I know it revolves around books in the same genre, with similar story lines, written for the same audience, but the author's voice is what makes them unique. Therefore you shouldn't compare zombies falling in love with humans  with vampires falling in love with humans. It is not the same, and therefore it is out of the question.

That being said, I should mention that I do love the Twilight books. Twilight is the reason I got back into reading again. Twilight, is how I remembered to fall in love with a book again. Twilight, made me want to read more and more. Twilight is the reason I started exploring the fantasy genre more, which let to equally amazing author finds.

I think you get the point, I love Twilight, I just don't like the hype.

    Royal Dutch Criminal?

Whatever is on my mind? Well, this week that was quit a lot, to be honest, working on my last two
courses for school, enjoying myself on GoodReads, having an information overload, trying to figure out my next steps for when I finally graduate and the interesting things in the news.

This week the Queen has decided that it is was time to pass on the throne to the new generation: Prince Willem Alexander and Maxima, or King Willem Alexander and Queen Maxima, as they will be, by the end of April. I wasn't going to blog about this, since the Royal family is not something I find highly fascinating. Don't get me wrong, they do a good job and all. I have the utter most respect for the queen, but I just don't find it an uninteresting topic.

Then why are you blogging about it?, you might think. Well, yesterday I have received the most disturbing email about the Royal family. And it has been in an out of mind for the rest of yesterday and today. This women who wrote the email, claims, in short, that the Royal family are paedophiles. She claims to have witnessed pedophile activities by the Royal family (including Queen Beatrix and Crown Prince Willem Alexander) and some ministers in Bangkok. Then she also claims that the Royal family wants to assassinate her for what see has seen in Bangkok. She claim that there have been nine attempts on her life.

Shocking, right? I can't believe it, that can't be true and I have never heard anything like it. The Royal family are no angels, ofcourse but these accustations are very disturbing. On the other side what the heck do I know about what the Royal family does in there private life? They can throw wicked parties, smoke some weet or order an escort, and nobody will ever find out (or at least not until they die).

But what if the Royal family are a bunch of criminals? Wouldn't  somebody have noticed something sooner? Not everybody can be assassinated or paid of. It would be a great shame if all the accusations were true, the country is allready in a financial mess, this would worsen the situation even more.  I would be ashamed to be part of this country and having a Royal family that finds it fun to play with kids. It is disgusting!

It is hard to believe, that the Royal family would do such a thing in public (at noon) when they will be spotted by at least the media and a lot of other people. It is not like a group of well dressed people, of wealthy looking status would go unnoticed in broad daylight. Not even in Bangkok I think!

The choice of medium is also peculiar to me, it was posted as an announcement at the Linkedin Group International business. It seems as though she wants the International society to stop trading with the Netherlands. Why else would you post such a thing on a business forum?

I think this women is just trying either to get attention for some other mental problem or likes to make a fuss about all the praise the queen has been getting from the media, BN'ers and citizens. This was the only way for her to shame the queen.
Lets hope, this doesn't turn out to be true, one crisis is more than enough for The Netherlands to handle. It will damage our International business postion a great deal.

This is the link to the announcement (I don't know if you will be able to read it or not):

    Shocking message

What do you think? Truth or garbage??
