Swinging Saturdays #68: Australian Singer-songwriters

Swinging saturdays is a musical meme hosted by Ice Cold Passion, to share our passion for music. The goal is to make a top 5 (or Top 10) for whatever genre or artist you like or get creative and share a theme based music top 5. For example a bookish soundtrack, funny songs, song to listen to on a rainy day top 5.

It is summer here in the Netherlands and of course it is raining. I want the sun, so I thought I would at least give you guys a little bit of sunshine by giving you some music from the most sunny place in the world: Australia. Even though I know it is winter over there, it still couldn't be as bad as the lack of sun we are getting this moment. Today I have some great music lined up for you from the other end of t world, I hope you enjoy it.

Keith Urban ~ Better Life

I think Keith might be the biggest country star Australia has ever had, but correct me if I am wrong. At least he is the most handsome of them all, such a pleasure for a single girl to look at. (sorry, I can't help myself sometimes). I used to listen to this song at lot when I was in Canada, good memories.

Coby Grant ~ Naive

Back in 2015 I took my mom an stepdad to see the Pierce Brothers in Tivoli, Utrecht. Colby Grant was the support act, we did not know what to expect but it was very beautiful, reminded me of Kate Nash. So I bought her cd at the show, and ofcourse it is also signed! You can find a picture of it on my instagram account icecoldpassion

Xavier Rudd ~ Spirit Bird

What I like most about Xavier's music is his incredible voice, it is so wonderful. The music is very quiet but hits you right to the core, that makes it so great. I love listening to this kind of music when I write, or have to concentrate on work. It is calming, relaxing.

Vance Joy ~ Riptide

The Ikea song, that is what it is famous for, still I can put it on repeat any day, any time and scream: "Lady running down to the riptide, taken away to the dark side."

The Pierce Brothers ~ Golden Times

Let me show you, exactly how these guys started out, in Australia in the streets of Melbourne, just doing their thing. Selling their records for whatever the crowd wants to pay for it. I will tell you a bit more about them in August, when I am going to see them live again for the second time at Tivoli, Utrecht.

Which great Australian artists did I miss?
