Swinging Saturdays #47 The Unknown

Swinging saturdays is a musical meme hosted by Ice Cold Passion, to share our passion for music. The goal is to make a top 5 (or Top 10) for whatever genre or artist you like or get creative and share a theme based music top 5. For example a bookish soundtrack, funny songs, song to listen to on a rainy day top 5.

THE UNKNOWN, right now that I have  your attention, this Swinging Saturdays is about less known  musicians. As in, should I ask around in my street of 13 houses, I bet only 1 or two will know a band or two in this top 10.

Asides from maybe my mom with whom I share songs I love and that one colleague (you know who you are) who also knows A LOT  of music I do not know anybody how loves these bands.

So hear they are.

1. The Villagers ~ Home

The Villagers played Lowlands festival, the song Becoming A Jackal,  I don't know if they ever made it into the top 40, but it was played by various radio stations. I decided to go for Home, because this song is as mesmerizing as Becoming A Jackal, maybe even better.

2. DeWolff ~ Don't You Go Up In The Sky

Six minutes of absolute rock and roll pleasure, if you click play on the video below. These guys are Dutch and man are they good. I just love the sound, give me more. Is all I can say, if you have any suggestions on similar bands, please let me know!

3. Dan Mangan ~ Above The Headlights

I think this is Stephenie Meyers doing, you know author of the Twilight series? Well she put up playlists for the books I believe one of Dan Mangan's songs was on there. Or maybe I have heard this in Canada, since he is Canadian and all.

4. Taymir ~ All We Know

Dutch indie band I have seen on Lowlands (no I have never been but always watched it on television/livestream).

5. Luke Sital Singh ~ Nothing Stays The Same

Luke... and then something with sing... What's his name again I can't remember. I love this song, but Luke Sital Singh, is not a name I would memorize easily.

6. Ha Ha Tonka ~ What shepherds of these hills?!

I have shared my other favorite from Ha Ha Tonka, Close Every Valve To Your Bleeding Heart, many times before, this is also Stephenie Meyers doing. She really selected some great music in her playlists for Twilight.

7. The Vines ~ Autumn Shade

Indie band, with some great music.

8. Hot Hot Heat ~ Talk To Me Dance With Me

This is something I picked up from MTV 2 (now MTV Rocks), the UK MTV station for rock, indie and metal. Many bands I came to love come from this source. I used to watch this often in the weekends. This is also the first video I have seen from them.

9. Death Cab For Cutie ~ Meet Me On The Equinox

Not telling were this came from...

10. Gem ~ She Said Oh Oh Oh I Said Yeah Yeah Yeah

This is one of the last CD's I have bought in a while.

So that's it for my Top 10!!! Any unknown music I should know  about? Leave a comment!
